I'm in Calgary and would like to buy some accessories
Hi everyone,
I'm currently in Calgary and was looking for a place here that sells a pinpointer and a good shovel. Anyone know a place in Calgary that I can check out? Thanks |

RE: I'm in Calgary and would like to buy some accessories
I made a nice shovel, Home Hardware was selling smaller stainless steel shovels with a wood handle, cut the handle down and put a new "D" handle on it. The stainless steel blade is quite thin, sharpened the edges with my dremel, works really slick.
Not sure if anyone in Calgary sells pinpointers.....Contact Jeff at Middlesex Detectors, he's a good guy and will help you out |

Hey Darius -- Take a run down to some low end second had stores. Quit often you can MD stuff in there. ( If you have the time ). Other than that I know of no place that sell MD supplies in Calgary. If you are not in a hurry , check the classifieds on some of the canadian fourms. There usually seems to be one on there all the time. Good luck. HH.

Hi, Darius.
Just saw your post so not sure if you have successfully found a good shovel and pinpointer... You may want to check out the gardening section of Canadian Tire. I found a really sturdy "trunk shovel" made by Jackson. These are the same manufacturers of the Jackson Digger trowel. Their shovel has the nice D handle and it is a good compact length and doubles as a trunk shovel over the winter. Regular retail is about $26 but if you are patient they go on sale once or twice a year for $17.99. We gave one of these along with a Jackson digger as a door prize at the Calgary Metal Detecting Club year end banquet and everyone commented on how solid it was constructed. As for a pinpointer, best bet is to contact Jeff at http://www.middlesexdetectorsales.ca but as an alternative you could try to google Heritage Metal Detector sales in the south end of the city. I think Jack Speight operates out of his home and I don't know if he carries pinpointers, but if you need to see and handle what you are buying, he is the only retailer that I know of in Calgary that carries MD supplies.
