Tesoro Sand Shark
What is your opinion on this unit. I don't dispute its use in water but I want to know if it has reasonable jam on dry land. Is it still a good land machine?, or is my money better spent elsewhere. The dual nature of this unit is what I find attractive. Good points?....bad points? Thanks.

RE: Tesoro Sand Shark
The one to ask would be Craig. He has only pull, like 10,000 gold rings from the water. Ha. Don't know if he uses it on land of not.

RE: Tesoro Sand Shark
I certainly don't have much experience with PI units but I think they'd drive you nuts trying to use them on land. I use a Tiger Shark in the water and I've used it on land when it's raining outside. The Tiger holds it own on land, but it's weight will tire you out fast.

Hey Craig, I havent used a Tiger, but can you move the control box back to the arm rest area to help with the weight/balance? |

You can Kev, and sometimes I do that especially if I'm in the water for more than a couple of hours. I find on land though that when you set the detector down it rests on the coil connection with that set up, not really sure if that would cause damage it just looked to me like it was putting stress on that connection. It can always be hip mounted though, if I was using it more on land that's what I'd be doing. Craig |

RE: Tesoro Sand Shark
Chris hi,
I have and use a Sand Shark. With respect to land use. The Good; Very easy to use. Pinpointing is spot on and easy. Being a PI you will never have to worry about ground minerals. You won't get false signals from touching a wet bush, like some detectors do. I personally don't know of any reason you would get a false signal. The weight is not bad (for me) when control box is mounted up by your elbow, or as suggested, mounted on a waist belt. The cable is plenty long enough for that purpose too. The Bad; also because it's a PI there is no disc. you only have your own brain to give you an idea of target size and shape. So it's not the best detector for sites with too much trash. This has nothing to do with the detector, but both Sand Shark , and Tiger Shark are unavailable at this time as Tesoro is out of one small part. Rick |

I also use the SS on wet sandy salt water beaches. Thats where the SS is really good, or on the beach with a Clean Sweep coil. On land I still prefer my Silver Sabre umax or a Tejon. Thanks Ken I not only sell Tesoro. I use them A Tesoro Gold Star Dealer |
