Treasure Baron Mod
I like using my Treasure Barons, great performance but they are heavy and poorly balanced.

A while ago I bought a highly modified Millenium Baron that had potential for being a better balanced Baron, although it was ugly
[Image: tbrb2.jpg]

I gave up on it and basically stripped it down to the circuit board and started from there
Ended up with a basic Baron with a battery box by the arm cuff
[Image: milmod1.jpg]

It is now light weight and very nicely balanced
[Image: milmod6.jpg]

I wanted to add manual ground balance and threshold but couldnt find small enough pots to cram into the box

No speaker, headphone jack is located on the bottom
[Image: milmod7.jpg]

The battery box is connected to the control box with DC plugs and jacks, wire runs thru the pole

I used PVC plumbing clamps to connect the boxes to the pole
[Image: milmod8.jpg]

Simple controls, Audio control (Sens) on the left and disc control on the right. The disc is also a push button for iron reject or accept and is a two tone disc control. (Tone changes from low to high at disc setting)
The big toggle switches from disc to all metal and all metal retune
The small toggle doesnt do anything. It is used with the ProHunter and GoldTrax modules. I decided to not remove it from the circuit board in case I use it in a modular Baron some day

Everything works good, still need to do a few things and take it on its maiden hunt. Should be a good performing, well balanced turn on and go detector
HH Kevin

I wouldn't even atempt to look inside my machine let alone rebuild a new one from scratch. Looks like you did a good job on it , I hope it works for you . HH.

Hey Kev, real nice job you did, now all you need is a 12" coil to go with that !!!

Actually, no there are no airplane parts in it, very unusual for my projects Smile Bought everything from an Electronics store and Home Depot

RE: Treasure Baron Mod
Good job, looks like a factory build.I really hope it performs better for you.You could somehow make the battery pack quick change for easy battery swap or is it fairly easy to change batts as is.
